Who created TransPH.org?
TransPH.org is a project of Transman Equality and Awareness Movement (TEAM), an organization based in Cebu but serving the Visayas and Mindanao island groups. Our organization was created to serve trans men outside of Luzon as “national” groups failed to reach out beyond Manila.
What does TEAM do?
TEAM is mainly functioning as a support group for transgender men. We share information such as names of trans-friendly doctors and safe sex practices, and educate our members by teaching SOGIE, clear up misconceptions about trans individuals, etc. Monthly activities are available.
We teach SOGIE, Trans101, LGBT Rights, and Gender Equality to different groups and sectors.
We’ve had mini projects such as this website. We regularly share trans news through our Facebook page. We also have a YouTube channel. We conducted a school climate survey in 2016. The key results of the survey can be found here. We are the only group that commemorates the loss of trans lives in the Visayas every Transgender Day of Remembrance since 2015. We also began celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility in 2017.
Participation and Assistance
We’ve been part of several projects by other groups such as Cebu Plus’ photo campaign for transgender men, UNDP’s Being LGBT in Asia Programme’s Legal Gender Recognition Roundtable Discussion, etc. (to be updated)
