One Step Closer to Equality

On September 20, 2017, for the second time in Philippine history, an anti-discrimination bill protecting persons of diverse SOGIE or more commonly referred to as the LGBT community has been passed the third reading at the Lower House of Representatives. More surprising is the result of the vote!

Affirmative – 197
Negative – 0
Abstentations – 0

Members of Congress get a groufie in celebration of equality.

Now, the battle in Congress has been won, but the war isn’t over yet. Senate needs to pass its own version of the bill too and both bills must be reconciled before being submitted to the office of the President where he either signs it into law or vetoes it back to the Senate. But let’s not think about that now. Now, organize with your fellow advocates and get ready to party!
