The first ever Mandaue Pride March will be held on the 24th of June 2018 at 7 PM in the City of Mandaue and will be open to all. LGBT+ groups and allies from all over Cebu Province are expected to attend. Aside from the main event, a series of small pride events will be held during the week from June 18 to 23, 2018.
The event was organized by the Cebu Coalition for Equality and will be hosted by the Mandaue City government with the strong support of Attorney Regal Oliva, the Mandaue City Treasurer, and, of course, the Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing.
On a side note, the article written by Christell Fatima M. Tudtud for The Freeman gives no credit at all to the organizers of the march who have spent considerable time and resources to contact the different government departments and agencies, organizations from all over the Philippines, and planning of events. She referred to the LGBT+ community as the “third sex”, an insensitive and inaccurate way of referring to the community. The date for the march on her article is wrong. And last, but not least, her article has grammatical errors. Is this woman really a journalist?
